Boy Scout Troop 42
Boy Scout Troop 42 is chartered by Trinity Baptist Church in Christiansburg, Virginia. Boy Scouts is for boys ages 11 through 18 interested in the outdoors, character development, and a strong moral foundation for becoming young men. Troop 42 meets on Monday evenings at 7pm.
Every Boy Scout is a member of a Boy Scout Troop. Troops are divided into Patrols. Each patrol has around 6 to 12 boys and is led by one of the boys, the Patrol Leader, and his assistant. The Troop is led by the Senior Patrol Leader, his assistant, and a staff of other boys such as the Quartermaster, Historian, Webmaster, Chaplain, and others.
The Scoutmaster is the adult in charge of the program, aided by Assistant Scoutmasters, the Troop Committee, and various staff positions such as Unit Advancement, Training, Fundraising, and Treasurer.
Boys advance in rank as they learn skills, earn merit badges, and complete service projects. They must demonstrate that they live by the Scout Law, the Scout Oath, and show good Scout Spirit. They participate in Troop activities such as campouts, and a week-long summer camp.

Patrols at Troop 42
A boy scout troop is divided into patrols: 5-10 boys in each patrol, with a patrol leader and assistant. As a patrol, boys plan their campouts, guide each other through rank advancement, and together learn scouting skills. This is called the Patrol Method. Click on the patrol emblems or patrol name to visit that patrol's page.

Life to Eagle Success
Becoming an Eagle Scout is an important moment in a young man's life. Earning the Eagle Scout rank says that you are a well-rounded person who is community-minded, responsible and dedicated. Originally the Eagle Scout was a merit badge that represented a perfect scout. Today, the Eagle Scout rank shows you're an invaluable community member. Troop 42 wants to help guide Boy Scouts on this journey from Life rank to Eagle success.
